British comedian Ricky Gervais is hotly tipped to host next year’s Academy Awards. Gossips claim new Oscars bosses Laurence Mark and Bill Condon were impressed with The Office creator’s laugh-raising stint at Sunday’s Emmy Awards, and they want to audition him for the Oscars.

I watched the Emmys and I am more than happy to announce to those that didn’t that 30Rock has finally received the recognition it deserves! It was named the comedy series of the year, with Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin winning the comedic actress/actor award! Yeah!

Ah, the Emmys, the most entertaining awards show and often the most frustrating. Why is it so frustrating? Because the voters get it wrong. Just like in the Oscars, may I add. In fact, they get it so wrong that predicting the winners is often a fool’s errand since it’s impossible to determine what will strike the Academy’s fancy as the reasons for their choices are as mystifying as the results.

One week before next weekend’s Primetime Emmy Awards lots of stars of the small screen came out in LA on Saturday for the presentation of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, or as my favourite funny girl, Kathy Griffin lovingly calls them, the Shmemmys.

VMA stands for Very Monotone – Again

The VMA’s came and… left without a trace. Whattahell is going on with MTV? This award show was more boring, dull and unoriginal than the Oscars, and that is really low standards. MTV needs to grow a pair, or grow them back to be precise. I mean, three awards for Piece of Me? Really? That was the best phuckin’ video they had to offer? All year? A fat chick staggering to rhythm in a boring set? That’s all?
